The Paragon 2012

Bottles of The Paragon in the vineyard

2012 was a difficult year, cold and wet.  Nevertheless we did manage, with very careful picking, to get a small quantity of good fruit, and our 2012 wine, "The Paragon" was launched at our first open day in September 2012 - and we sold one bottle every minute.

Price:
£12/bottle.  Case discount of 5% and special rates for volunteers are available.

Awards:
Commendation medal - International Wine Challenge 2013

Why “The Paragon”?         paragon /’pærəgən/ n. : A large, flawless diamond
Volunteers at our community vineyard wanted the 2012 wine to commemorate BRCC’s diamond anniversary. Here at Bedfordshire Rural Communities Charity, we have been supporting communities since 1953.  Diamonds represent the enduring and unbreakable – and endurance was needed by everyone working at the vineyard in the difficult growing conditions of 2012.  Only individual care for each vine and careful hand-picking enabled us to select the best grapes at harvest for this special jubilee wine.

Blend:
Regner 40%:  Reichensteiner 31%:   Bacchus 16%:  Muller Thurgau  13%

Tasting notes:
"The nose has depth of flavour tropical fruits and pineapple with a hint of apricot. The start of the palate is crisp with lime and lemon and crunchy apple but it fills out towards the back with a nice depth of flavour and tangerine freshness on the finish." Derek Smedley, Master of Wine      Awarded 91 points

Food matches:
Rich fish like salmon, turkey, goats cheese, hard cheese (not blue)

Winemakers:
Litmus Wines at Denbies Wine Estate, Dorking
