Frost deals a cruel card

Really bad news.  The frost last Wednesday morning has had a devastating effect, killing off the green shoots on the vines and hardly any were untouched. I guess that to have a fuller picture of the damage, we will have to wait about a fortnight, to see how the plants react and then see what flowering we get this year.
On the positive side, we can hope the vines react by putting out fewer bunches of grapes, which in effect would be a natural selection. This could lead to better grapes and a better wine, which would be some compensation for a drastic reduction in production. We shall just have to wait and see. And it gives us time to fix the tractor for spraying.....
