Tickets now on sale for a wine-tasting evening
with Master of Wine, Derek Smedley

Discovering lesser-known grape varieties"
7pm-9pm, Friday 6th November at Old Warden Village Hall SG18 9HQ

Advance booking only: tickets are £18 (£15 per person for volunteers, FWAV members and guests) and cover tasting wine and nibbles. Designated drivers £8.

The Friends of Warden Abbey Vineyard (FWAV) are organising an informal wine tasting hosted by Derek Smedley, Master of Wine. The evening will commence with the first public tasting of our own wine, The Nonconformist 2014, from Warden Abbey Vineyard. There will be a total of 6 other wines from around the world for the tutored tasting, selected by Derek, who will talk through the wines and his career in the wine industry. Additional wine will be sold by the glass on the night, and the tasting wines will be available to buy or order (cash/cheque only please).

This should be a great evening for us all to get out of our wellies and enjoy a glass of wine together with Derek and friends from the vineyard, while fundraising for the vineyard.

Derek Smedley has been in the wine trade since 1961, passing the Master of Wine Examination in 1968. He started his career with Harveys of Bristol then moved to Gilbeys before becoming wine buyer for the Whitbreads, and today is a consultant.  Master of Wine (MW) is the most prestigious title in the world of wine. Derek is one of only 340 Masters of Wine from 24 countries around the globe.
